In an interview with ScreenRant, Sylvester Stallone said that he would like to rewrite Rambo’s story using a younger version of himself generated by AI. “I wanted Rambo to be the coolest guy in school,” he explained.

Sylvester Stallone said he would slightly change his origin story in the prequel movie titled “John Rambo,” which will be played by Noah Centineo from “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

“I wanted to rewrite the story of young Rambo because I wanted Rambo to be the coolest guy in school, the class speaker, the prom king, all that,” the actor said.

He also commented that he wanted the character to believe that the mission in Vietnam would be a quick three-week operation.

“And then you see him being tortured and captured, his friends murdered, one tragedy after another, and [his] life in Saigon… and that’s how I became what I became,” Sylvester Stallone said.

Millennium Media, the film’s production company, chose to approach the character’s prequel in a more traditional way without the use of artificial intelligence. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander, from “Sisu.”

With few details revealed so far, the feature intends to explore Rambo’s past in the Vietnam War, when the soldier was part of the U.S. Army Special Forces Green Berets.

The first Rambo movie is inspired by David Morrell’s 1972 book “First Blood” and became one of cinema’s icons after it was adapted to the screen and starred Sylvester Stallone. The movie spawned four sequels.

Filming for “John Rambo” is scheduled to begin in January 2026.
